Mediatek quietly launched their new processor – Dimensity 1300. MediaTek is yet to reveal the devices which will have this new chip. But it is expected to debut on the OnePlus Nord 2T or OnePlus Nord 3.
With the new specs, the Dimensity 1300 should be able to match or outperform the mighty Snapdragon 778G on performance. On paper, the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 seems similar to the previous model, 1200. The 1200 model was already a star when it comes to performance, so 1300 will only better the earlier performance numbers.
Let’s look at the most highlighted features.
The Dimensity 1300 features an octa-core CPU. This consists of four Cortex-A78 cores with one “prime” Cortex-A78 core (clocked up to 3GHz) and three performance cores clocked up to 2.6GHz. The other four cores on this chip are made of Cortex-A55 cores, clocked up to 2.0GHz. The chip is from a TSMC 6nm line.
A nine-core ARM Mali-G77 GPU is supported by their HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technology. It also features AI-VRS graphics enhancement, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Hybrid 2.0, and Bluetooth LE Audio technology with Dual-Link True Wireless stereo audio support. This will most certainly result in an improvement in the gaming performance and overall experience.
The 1300 chip also brings improvements in the supporting displays with superfast refresh rate. The HDR10+ video playback performance is also better in the 1300 chip. Hardware accelerations in AV1 decoding provides better power efficiency in 4K video playback.
Dimensity 1300 also boasts of in-built 5G support by offering major power saving enhance ments and crazy fast 5G NR performance. The two modes, 5G Elevator Mode and 5G HSR mode helps ensure seamless 5G experiences.
Not only that, the chip has provided a 5G Open Resource Architecture. This allows smartphone makers to optimize their phones for maximum performance.
Dimensity 1300 has greater capacity for AI tasks. This improves the AI benchmark scores by almost 10% from six-core APU 3.0. The APU 3.0 has an advanced multi-tasking scheduler to improve performance and efficiency in parallel tasks.
The Imaggiq camera has brought new AI enhancements including better night shot photography and HDR capabilities. This improves the image clarity. A “staggered” 4K HDR video recording claims to improve dynamic range by 40% compared to standard 4K HDR recording.
The Dimensity 1300 supports up to 168Hz displays at a maximum of FullHD+ resolution. The chip supports up to 16GB of 4266Mbps LPDDR4x RAM. It can work with UFS 3.1 type storage.
Camera support goes up to 200 MP for a single camera and 32 MP and 16MP for a dual camera setup.
The chip can manage download speeds up to 4.7 Gbps and upload speeds of 2.5 Gbps.
MediaTek’s product line up just got a shot in the arm with Dimensity 1300. It will be exciting to see which devices use this chip in their releases.
